This Privacy Policy describes Our policies on the collection, use and disclosure of Your information when You use BiteBase and tells You about Your privacy rights.

AI-Powered Features: BiteBase uses Anthropic Claude AI to analyse photos of your fridge/pantry and to remix recipes. When you use these features, relevant image and text data is securely transmitted to Anthropic's servers for processing. By using AI features you consent to this transfer. Anthropic does not sell your data. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

Definitions

Account — a unique account created for You to access Our Service.
Application — BiteBase, the iOS mobile app.
Company ("We", "Us", "Our") — BiteBase.
Country — United Arab Emirates.
Personal Data — any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual.
You — the individual accessing or using the Service.

Email address (for account creation)
First name / display name

Device Information

Device type, OS version, unique device identifier
IP address and crash/diagnostic data (via Sentry)
App usage statistics

Camera and Photos

With Your prior permission, the Fridge Scanner feature accesses your camera and photo library. Images are sent to Our backend server and to Anthropic Claude AI for ingredient identification. You can revoke camera access at any time in iPhone Settings → BiteBase.

Payments

BiteBase offers a Premium subscription processed through Apple's in-app purchase system. We do not store any payment card details. All payment data is handled by Apple.

Data Retention

Account data — retained for the life of your account plus 24 months after closure.
Diagnostic data — up to 24 months.
Transaction records — up to 10 years (tax compliance).
Camera images — processed in real-time, not stored permanently.

Delete Your Data

You can permanently delete your account directly in the app:

Profile tab → scroll to bottom → Delete Account

This immediately deletes your account and all associated data. You may also email support@bitebase.food.

Children's Privacy

BiteBase is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. Contact us immediately if you believe a child has provided us with data.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If You are a California resident, You have the following rights:

Right to Know — request disclosure of personal information We collect and use.
Right to Delete — request deletion of your personal information (see Delete Your Data above).
Right to Correct — request correction of inaccurate personal information.
Right to Opt-Out — We do not sell or share your personal information.
Right to Non-Discrimination — We will not discriminate for exercising CCPA rights.

Security

We use TLS encryption in transit, row-level security in our database, and secure token-based authentication. No method of internet transmission is 100% secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy and will notify you by posting the new version here and updating the "Last updated" date. Material changes will also be communicated via email or in-app notice.
